A forest is born

Almost at the half year mark, where has the time gone…

Big news for me. I've finally bit the bullet and taken the plunge in setting up a patreon.

The idea is to begin thinking about a patronage system as supplement to commission model. The patreon will be a window to an art practice, a studio in the digital forest, while experimenting with annother idea. The free library - a place where I always keep free and periodically update with art assets / zines and other things I come up with.

So the Patreon was thought out in two parts.

One. A studio space where I can begin cultivating outside of social media, as the hellscape of ads makes organic reach near impossible. Finding true fan/friend/patrons to support then vision, but not beholden to this model, as I still have a day job. But would aim towards breaking out of that and do this instead. (The classic creative dream)

The by product is that it will introduce accountability each month and connecting away from social media as well. Hence making a discord as a support to that.

Two. I have grand ideas and big plans that always get sidelined, so by launching this. I've cleared a artist block for myself - and if it goes to shit; at least I tried it.

I do like the idea of sort of community sounding board with voting systems to see what people want or need in the games.

I usually have art sitting on the hardrive or desk doing nothing, and I don't hold any sentimental value to most…. and still believe in both art being free but also paid….

This is my attempt to figuring out a model for both statements to exist side by side; that works for me.

Thus the forest is born.

I just like the forest theme as well, and thinking of the worldbuilding element for the patreon was such a fun exercise.

It's all building as I go, and thing will change.

I might document the finance side of things, but not sure if there has any benefit. I know this is very slow burn and would be cool to track.

Anyway. I should update this site aswell. But 1 bucket list of 2025 marked off. That's worth its weight in gold.

Thanks for reading, and see you on the other side.
